Video Campaign for Michael O’Hare’s Michelin starred, The Man Behind The Curtain

THE OBJECTIVE

To create a slick perfume-style advert for The Man Behind The Curtain, that showcased the inside of the restaurant and articulated the exceptional food and service, but, crucially, left the viewer intrigued and hungry for more.

THE APPROACH

For those that haven’t been, The Man Behind the Curtain is a Michelin starred restaurant in Leeds that’s headed by Great British Menu judge Michael O’Hare. Every minute detail of the place is unique to Michael’s style, from the chic and stylish monochrome setting to the downright outrageous dishes. Like all great chefs, Michael has a crystal-clear image of how he wants everything to be, throughout every aspect of the customer journey. We knew this brand video had to be unique, classy and slick, or else we’d know about it. He wouldn’t settle for absolutely anything less than exactly what he wanted, nor should he. We liked that challenge. We took inspiration from Michael’s passion for skateboarding and collectively shot a moody, perfume-style ad. It’s a million miles from something we’ve ever done before, but we rose to challenge, evolved and met the brief.

THE OUTPUT

We produced a ridiculously cool, black and white video campaign that ticked all the boxes. Michael was made up, and we were proud as punch with the final output.

BEHIND THE SCENES

This was one of the most challenging briefs we’ve received. Michael’s vision was very particular and the final output really was cool AF. We loved every second of the process and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
